Charlie Brown & Gang Brings Holiday Spirit to Broadway Playhouse

A Charlie Brown Christmas – The Musical will raise its curtains on November 14 at the Broadway Palace, bringing the classic characters by Charles M. Schulz to the live stage. An adaptation by Eric Schaeffer, the musical is presented by Emerald City Theatre and performances will run through till January 3, 2016. Children and adults are excited to see their beloved characters Snoopy, Linus and Lucy live and in front of them, and are buying A Charlie Brown Christmas tickets in advance.

Charles M. Schulz introduced Charlie Brown through the popular comic strip “Peanuts” in the early 50s and at its peak, ran in more than 2,600 newspapers. Its commercial appeal resulted in television specials and in 1965 A Charlie Brown Christmas aired on CBS. Capturing the holiday spirit, the show highlights the true meaning of Christmas touching upon the over commercialized aspect of the season.

The stage version begins with Charlie having Christmas blues. Wherever he goes people are excited about presents, expensive trees and kids are focused on toys only. Commercialization has invaded everybody and in an attempt to cheer up Charlie, his dear friend Lucy suggests he participates in the school’s Christmas pageant. While Lucy thought Charlie’s involvement would ignite his holiday spirit once again, everything goes wrong at the event. He then finds help from Snoopy and Linus who show him the real meaning of Christmas and they cheer up the families around them.
