Like all other members of Ivy League, Yale also does not give athletic scholarships. Yale Bulldogs tickets are a sought-after treat among fans of collegiate sports, particularly for their football games
Yale Bulldogs have many athletic facilities such as the Yale Bowl, which is the first natural bowl stadium in the nation, and a prototype for similar structures like the Rose Bowl, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Another one of its prominent facilities is the Payne Whitney Gymnasium, which is the second most enormous indoor athletic facility in the world. In October 2000, Yale University bought its fourth boathouse in less than two centuries of collegiate rowing. Its renowned Richard Gilder Boathouse has been named in honor of Virginia Gilder, a former Olympic rower from 1979, and her father, who contributed four million dollars to the seven and a half million dollars project. The school also owns the Gales Ferry site, which is where the men’s heavyweight team trains for its Howard-Yale Boat Race. Among the athletic teams of America, Yale’s crew is the oldest and is known to have won several Gold Medals in Olympic Games for men’s eight in 1956 and 1924. Also, Yale Corinthian Yacht Club built in 1881, is among the oldest sailing collegiate club in the world. Among the school’s many historical sports accomplishments is their holding the first ever ice hockey game in the U.S., played between John Hopkins and Yale in 1896. Due to this, the many ice hockey clubs of the school play commemorative games. Also during 1954 and 1982, Yale’s student organizations and residential college teams played the controversial bladderball game. It is the students from Yale University who claim to have been the inventors of Frisbee, which came about from the tossing of empty tins of Frisbie Pie Company.
The school mascot of Yale Bulldogs is Handsome Dan who is the official Yale bulldog since 1889, and is said to be the first ever college mascot in America. The college’s fight song includes the refrain bow wow wow bulldog, written by Cole Porter. The Bulldogs are supported by their own music group known as Yale Marching Precision Band, where ‘precision’ has been used ironically since the band plays scatter-style tunes running about wildly instead of marching. The band is present at each home football game as well as on the basketball and hockey games. Their games are not to be missed; so just grab some Yale Bulldogs tickets and be there to cheer for the invincible players.
