The Wichita State Shockers have quite an illustrious history when it comes to delivering in the field and on courts. All of the teams in the program have been difficult opponents for their competitors and their games have always been thrilling. The Shockers’ football program, for one, was quite successful. Football began in 1897 and remained a part of the university’s landscape till 1986 before it was shut down. The closure didn’t come before the Shockers had won fourteen conference titles.

The Wichita State Shockers men’s basketball program has been very consistent over the years as well. Their first ever basketball team stepped on to the court in the year 1906 but it took them quite a few years to hit their stride properly. It was in the mid of 1960’s that the Shockers started to make their mark. They have since gone on to being crowned regular season conference champions on seven occasions and have won the conference tournament twice.  They have also made it to the NCAA Tournament ten times and have gone all the way to the Elite Eight stage on four occasions while making the Final Four twice.

Last but not the least; the Shockers have been strong in baseball as well. Their dominance in the sport began when they won the Conference Tournament in the year 1980. That kick started a legacy that has brought their way a total of twenty regular season conference titles and eighteen Conference Tournament triumphs. The Shockers have also made it to the NCAA Tournament two dozen times and seven seasons have ended in College World Series appearances. The Shockers have also won baseball’s national championship once to rank among the most famous and successful programs in the country today.

The Wichita State Shockers hope to cement their legacy even further with coming seasons. They have been performing quite well lately and that is what puts them in an ideal position to make the leap to the next level and beyond.
