Since 1908, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have carried the flag of the Western Kentucky University (WKU) in NCAA and other collegiate competitions. As members of the NCAA Division-I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the Hilltoppers compete in the East Division of Conference USA.

Based in Bowling Green, they play their home games at the Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium. The WKU has produced many talented football players over the years. These include the likes of Willie Taggart, Jason Michael, Rod Smart, Andrew Jackson, Brandon Doughty and Eagle “Buddy” Keys among others.
