The Grizzlies are owned by David Elmore and Donna Turtle. They are trained under head coach Kevin Colley and play in their official colors which are green, white, copper and black, at their home stadium, the Maverik Center. The team is a proud winner of a regular season title, a Division Championship, a Conference Championship and a Kelly Cup. With an overall record of .500 and playing playoffs in thirteen seasons out of fifteen, the team has become a very strong contender in the league.
Utah Grizzlies Cities
The franchise history goes back to 1988 when the team started as the Virginian Lancers. The Lancers were very important at that time as they became a part of the founding set of the ECHL. Since then the franchise went to five southeastern cities before becoming the Grizzlies in 2003. From 1990-1992 they played as the Roanoke Valley Rebels; a year later they became Roanoke Valley Rampage. They remained as Huntsville Blast for a year before becoming the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks. From 2001-2002, the team played as the Macon Whoopee. Lexington Men O' War was the last stop they made before becoming the Grizzlies.
In 2005, the Utah Grizzlies were purchased by its owners and it joined the ECHL with Jason Christie as the Head Coach. They straightaway won five seasons starting many regional rivalries. These rivalries existed with teams even when the Grizzlies were with the IHL; they restarted and went on to become fiercer than before. In those days Utah Grizzlies tickets became the talk of the town. They were hard to find whenever the team played against cities like Vegas, Long Beach or Phoenix.
The team's 2007-2008 season at the ECHL renewed ties and formed new affiliations that helped the team to make a comeback. They returned to the conference finals after almost a decade with an extra time play for the second round seen for the very first time in the team's history. Kevin Colley came to tame the Grizzlies for the 2008-2009 season, taking the team all the way to the playoffs. This was an achievement as the team had an injured/limited roster and it still managed it thrice in four years time.
In the 2010-2011 season, the Grizzlies had a very strong lineup. With a roster boasting of fifteen experienced players the team went up to the second-round of the playoffs. They are all up and ready to take over this season. Utah Grizzlies tickets offer a game of power packed ice hockey that should only be watched live. Purchase now to be a part of it.
