UFC Fight Night-Cejudo Vs Dillashaw

The Barclays Center will play host to the first UFC Fight Night show of 2019 and it promises to be an epic bout too. The main event will feature Henry Cejudo versus T.J. Dillashaw. The former is the UFC Flyweight Champion whereas the latter is a two time UFC Bantamweight Champion. If Dillashaw wins the fight, he will become the third men UFC fighter to hold titles in two different weight classes. The only other two people to have achieved the rare feat are Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier.

To put this fight in perspective, it is very important to go through the profile of the two fighters:

Henry Cejudo

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Henry Cejudo is also known as The Messenger. The American is the reigning UFC men's Flyweight Championship holder. He is a former wrestler who won has previously competed in the Pan American Games and also won a gold medal in the Olympics in the year 2008. He went on a hiatus from wrestling and then retired from the sport for good in 2012.

That resulted in Cejudo starting his career as an MMA fighter. He won his debut MMA fight against Michael Poe and went 6-0 over the next six months. In July of 2016, Cejudo officially signed with the UFC. He made his debut on December 13 of the same year and beat Dustin Kimura via a unanimous decision. He kept on moving through the ranks and then he came up against Demetrious Johnson for the flyweight title on April 23, 2016 at UFC 197. Cejudo lost by TKO.

He kept going and then got a second shot at Johnson for the UFC Flyweight title at UFC 227. The fight took place on August 4, 2018 and this time Cejudo came out on top to become the promotion' flyweight champion for the first time.

T.J. Dillashaw

Challenging Henry Cejudo will be T.J. Dillashaw. He comes from Sonora, California and is also known as The Viper and Killashaw. Just like Cejudo, Dillashaw has a wrestling background too. He came fifth at the CIF state championships as a junior in high school. He ended up with a record of 170-33 by the time he finished high school.

Dillashaw received a full-ride scholarship as he was asked to wrestle for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. He came in at the sixth position at the Greco Wrestling Championships in April of 2007 and climbed to the fourth spot at the Pac-10 Championships the same year. He also qualified for the NCAA thrice.

Once Dillashaw finished college, he shifted his focus to MMA. On March 26, 2010 he made his debut as a professional MMA fighter against Czar Sklavos and won the fight. He debuted for the UFC on December 3, 2011 but lost to John Dodson. In his second UFC fight, he was up against Walel Watson on February 15, 2012 and won the bout.

He was given the chance he had been waiting for at UFC 173 when he went up against the Bantamweight Champion, Renan Barao. Dillashaw stunned everyone by winning the fight because he was a huge underdog before the bout. Barao was on a thirty one fight winning run and Dillashaw beat him. He lost the title to Dominick Cruz on January 17, 2016 via split decision.

Dillashaw dusted himself up and started to climb the ladder once again in order to regain his championship. He earned another shot at the Bantamweight Championship at UFC 227 on August 4, 2018 when he went up against Cody Garbrandt. Dillashaw won the fight via TKO to become a two time UFC Men's Bantamweight Champion.
