The Horned Frogs-Longhorns Rivalry History

The Texas Longhorns and the TCU Horned Frogs have been playing against each other since over a century now. They first met in 1897 in Waco. The game was won by the Longhorns with a score of 18-10. For nearly three decades, the Texas Longhorns won one game after the other scoring a total of 12 continuous wins. The TCU Horned Frogs finally achieved their debut rivalry win in 1929 with a 15-12 score. The Horned Frogs-Longhorns’ rivalry (as of 2014) is led by the Texas Longhorns with 62 wins as opposed to the rival team’s 22 wins. Watch as a new chapter is added to this rivalry.

The Longhorns’ Basketball Program

The basketball program of the University of Texas at Austin began in 1906. They played their inaugural game in court against the Baylor Bears, winning the game by 27-17. Since then the varsity team has qualified for 32 NCAA Championships games, winning 31 Conference Championships, 4 National titles and 53 Bowl games. The team has an all-time record of 880-346-33 (0.712 winning percentage) as of 2014. This ranks them in 7th place among the 129 NCAA teams.
