The Stony Brook Seawolves are the Stony Brook University’s teams that make up its athletics program. The current athletics director of the university is James D. Fiore. The program is a member of the America East Conference within the NCAA Division I, except for the football team which is part of the Big South Conference and plays in the Division I FCS. The Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium is where the football team practices. The basketball team, on the other hand, plays at the Stony Brook University Arena and the baseball teams at the Joe Nathan Field. In 2012, Lucy Van Dalen became the NCAA individual National Champion, after winning the national NCAA Indoor Track Championship.
