Riders have won the Western Championships a record twenty seven times and have finished first seven times in the Western Division. Their record has eighteen Grey Cup final appearances with three Grey Cups wins, latest coming in 2007.Their sold out rivalry games are sold out at the beginning of the season with Winnipeg Blue Bombers as their biggest rivals among other big names as Edmonton Eskimos, BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. The Roughriders celebrated their 100-year anniversary as a football club, finished second in the West and defeated the BC Lions and Stampeders in the Semi-Final and Final respectively.
After the resignation of Ken Miller, Corey Chamblin was name the new head coach of the Roughriders in late 2011. He had served as a defensive coordinator for Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Tow top Canadian players were hired Brendon LaBatte and Dominic Picard but they lost all-star linebacker Jerrel Freeman and outstanding slotback Andy Fantuz and still managed to qualify for the playoffs.
The last Grey Cup was played on their home turf. Saskatchewan has hosted the Grey Cup three times in 1995, 2003 and in 2013 and now it has been announced that Riders will have a new stadium for the 2017 season. Saskatchewan Roughriders tickets were sold in a matter of days .
