One of the most competitive teams in the Ontario Hockey League, the Saginaw Spirit has enthralled millions of sports fans all over North America for several decades. The major junior ice hockey club plays in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League. The team has produced thrilling sports matches over the years that have made the Spirits into one of the most prominent ice hockey clubs in the league. The Spirits competes in the West Division of the conference, which includes clubs such as "Plymouth Whalers", "Windsor Spitfires", "Sault Ste", "Marie Greyhounds" and "Sarnia Sting". The Spirit won its first "West Division Championship" title in 2010-2011 season. Based in Saginaw Michigan, the Spirits play their home games at the beautifully built multipurpose arena 'Dow Event Center'. The arena easily houses more than five thousand people during hockey games. Saginaw Spirit Cities
The earliest roots of the club trace back to 1940s, when the team was known as the "St. Catharines Falcons". The team was based in Ontario Canada, and played under the Ontario Hockey Association. In 1947, the Falcons became the "St. Catharines Teepees" and continued playing under the Ontario Hockey Association until 1962. The team was then rebranded as "St. Catharines Black Hawks" and after almost fourteen years became "Niagara Falls Flyers" in 1976. In 1982, the club became "North Bay Centennials" before relocating to Saginaw in 2002. The Sprits fly on ice field in yellow, white, silver, red and blue colors. Some of the players that have played in the National Hockey League include "Tom Pyatt", "Ryan O'Marra", "Paul Bissonnette", "Dalton Prout", "Jan Mursak", "Brandon Saad", "Geoff Platt" and "Cody Bass". Since 2005, the Spirits have made it to all the seven playoffs, bagging one "Division Title". In 2011-2012 season, the Spirits reached the conference semi finals but lost to "London Knights". Currently the team comprises of highly gifted players including Jake Paterson, Ramon Lopez, Brandon Prophet, Dalton Young, Grant Webermin, Nick Moutrey, Jeremiah Addison, Jimmy Lodge and Terry Trafford.
