The Sacramento Kings were formed with the name "Rochester Royals," which changed to "Cincinnati Royals," "Kansas City-Omaha Kings," and "Kansas City Kings" before being named "Sacramento Kings" in 1985. In their first season as the Sacramento Kings, the team made it to the playoffs; however, the subsequent years were not very successful, attributed to certain mishaps of some of the players. The team wears a uniform with purple, black, silver, and white colors in their home games. From 1998 to present, "Slamson the Lion" has been the team mascot of the Kings. The Kings have also seen a number of changing home arenas. Edgerton Park Arena was the first home arena of the Kings. After that, the team moved from Rochester War Memorial, Cincinnati Gardens, Kansas City Municipal Auditorium, Omaha Civic Auditorium, Kemper Arena, and ARCO Arena 1 before being moved to ARCO Arena 2, which became the home arena of the Kings in 1988. ARCO Arena is located in Sacramento, California, and is owned and operated by the Maloof family. The arena was opened to the public in 1988 after a construction cost of 40 million US dollars. Past tenants of the arena have been the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA, the Sacramento Attack of the AFL, and the Sacramento Knights of the CISL-WISL. The arena has a capacity of more than 17,000 people for basketball games and about 10,000 people for indoor soccer. Apart from that, the arena also hosts concerts, truck and car rallies, ice shows, and other events. The arena has also hosted two Ultimate Fighting Championship events and the 2007 NCAA Volleyball Championship.

The Sacramento Kings have always been a team of energetic and talented players, led and coached by remarkable coaches and heads. Even as the Rochester Royals, the team was a powerhouse of basketball with a seemingly bright future. Regardless of their name or affiliation, the Kings have proven themselves to be a successful franchise that fans and other teams can look up to. Currently, Paul Westphal is the head coach of the team, and the current roster includes Omri Casspi, DeMarcus Cousins, Samuel Dalembert, Tyreke Evans, Francisco Garcia, Donte Greene, Luther Head, Darnell Jackson, Eugene Jeter, Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, Beno Udrih, Hassan Whiteside, and Antoine Wright. The Kings have produced a number of shining basketball stars who have played a part in making them the best team in America. Nate Archibald, Al Cervi, Bob Davies, Jerry Lucas, Lester Harrison, Arnie Risen, Oscar Robertson, Maurice Stokes, Jack Twyman, and Bobby Wanzer are players who have been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Because of their good performance in the 1987-1988 season, the Kings were moved to the Pacific Division from the Midwest Division. From 2000 to 2003, similar to the 1955-56 season, the Kings flourished as a team and beat teams from Utah, Dallas, and Minnesota. The Kings have their roots embedded in the NBA, as they were one of the 17 charter members when the NBA was founded as a result of the merger of the National Basketball League and the Basketball Association of America. The most famous rivalry of the Kings is with the Los Angeles Lakers, and their fierce games are the most anticipated and most crowded, with Sacramento Kings tickets for matches with the Lakers being the fastest to sell. Led by the most talented of coaches, the Kings have always shown great potential on the court and have always come better prepared than the last season. That is why Sacramento Kings tickets are a treat for any basketball fan, and true Kings fans never miss any of their games.
