The Reading Royals are an acclaimed ice hockey team from the United States of America that plays on a professional level. The Royals are playing in the ECHL at the moment. They take part in the popular Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of ECHL. All of the home games of the team are held at the famed Sovereign Center that is located in the downtown area of Reading in the state of Pennsylvania. Ever since the season of 2001, this is one of those teams in the ECHL that is greatly ranked amid the pioneers who are a part of the regular seasonal playoffs. On the 25th of March in 2006, in a game which was against the team of the Trenton Titans, the ice hockey team of the Royals effectively recorded one million fans of theirs in the attendance of the event. Since their inception, this team has successfully held two ECHL All-Star matches, one was in 2005 and the most recent being in 2009.

Originating from Reading in Pennsylvania, the Royals are affiliated with the ECHL and are a part of the Eastern Conference in the Atlantic Division. They were created in 1991. Known for playing their home games at the Sovereign Center, the Royals enjoy a colossal fan following. The colors that represent the team are white, black, silver and purple. The general manger for the team at the moment is Mark Wallace while the head coach of the Royals is Larry Courville presently. There are two media outlets that are in charge of the team, the Reading Eagle and WRAW. The two teams that they are affiliated with are the Washington Capitals of the NHL and the Hershey Bears of AHL.

When the Reading Royals were created in 1991, they went under the title name of Columbus Chill for eight years till 1999. From 2001 onwards, they took on their current name. So far this professional ice hockey team has not been able to win any regular season titles; however it has fruitfully won two division championships, one in 2004-2005 and the second one in 2010-2011. They have not won any conference championships or Kelly Cups yet. The Johnstown Chiefs that are now known as the Greenville Road Warriors were previously the cross-state main rivals of the Royals. The team has two more rivalries with teams like the Elmira Jackals and the Trenton Titans.
