Formed in 1967 as part of the expansion of the National Hockey League, the Penguins are jointly owned by Ronald Burkle and Mario Lemieux. Ray Shero is the team’s General Manager while Dan Bylsma is the Head Coach. Since their inception, they have managed to bag a number of titles including 4 Conference Championships, 3 Stanley Cups, 7 Division Championships and 1 Presidents’ Trophy. Civic Arena, Pennsylvania remained the team’s home arena from the year 1967 till 2011. Later, they shifted to the newly constructed state-of-the-art Consol Energy Center for the 2010-11 NHL season. As many as eighteen former players of the Penguins were inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Bob Johnson, the former head coach was inducted for the first time in the year 1992 while the most recent inductee was Frank Sciulli in 2007.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have white, black and Vegas gold as their uniform colors. Their current official logo depicts a black colored penguin holding a hockey stick. Variations of this logo have been used in their past games.
