Penn State Tickets

Where there is American Football, there are thrilling moments! A college football program that offers you the best in the sport, Penn State Nittany Lions are the ones who can sustain your interest. The team plays in the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The American soil hasn't produced such a storied football program combined with rich tradition. The team defeated Michigan State in November 2008 thus earning its 800th win and becoming the sixth FBS program to secure such a distinction. They have been invited to 42 bowl games. So are you not looking forward to 2010 Penn State Season Tickets?

A record of 27-13-2 has been achieved by the Nittany Lions which is the second highest winning percentage in Division I FBS. This does not include participation in the major bowls (Orange, Fiesta, Sugar, Cotton and Rose) with a 14-6-1 (0.690) record. The team owes the number of appearances (36) and victories (24) to current coach Joe Paterno who also helped the team achieve a bowl record of 24-11-1 (0.686). The trainer ranks as the only coach to sweep wins in all five major college bowls with a 14-5-0 record. At present the team contests two rivalry trophies. These were initiated in 1993 when the team started participating in the Big Ten football.

The team competes for the Land Grant Trophy since 1993 and competes against its traditional rival Michigan State. A 13-4 record has been achieved by the team in these trophy games which won the most recent competition in 2009. Another main event in which the team has participated since 2003 is the Governor's Victory Bell in which they have been contesting Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are behind Penn State in this series with 7-4 who are the current champions by triumphing in the 2009 contest. However Penn State did not compete against Minnesota in 2007 and 2008 owing to the Big Ten's schedule rotation with the series carrying on in 2009 again.

Penn State first encountered Ohio State in 1912 but their competitions were not frequent before the Big Ten Conference inducted Penn State in 1993. Penn State led the series 6-2 against Ohio State until their last non-conference encounter in the Fiesta Bowl of 1980. The two teams were confirmed as conference rivals with annual meetings in 1993 by the Big Ten. A slim margin of 13-12 is now upheld by Penn State which is also ahead in conference play by 6-11.

Penn State succeeded with a 13-6 victory in 2008 after losing seven consecutive games at Ohio Stadium. The team has a 5-5 score in Beaver Stadium against Ohio State. This encompasses a striking win in 2001 after a slow start. Coach Joe Paterno earned his 324th victory beating Bear Bryant's record in career wins among major college coaches. The conference champion has been determined by at least two meetings. Out of a total of 24 games played, 14 have been settled by 14 points or less while 7 points or less have determined 9 games. Ohio State has been shut out by Penn State three times but this was before the latter joined the Big Ten. Penn State has never been held below six points by Ohio State. The competitions between the two teams are taken with great interest by the fans, and hence most of these games are staged at night time.

Apart from Ohio State, Temple is another main rival of Penn State since 1931. Penn State holds a 35-3-1 record in the series against Temple who have not defeated the team since 1941. In 2009, Penn State became the winners with an impressive 31-6 score against Temple. The two are scheduled to meet through 2012 in every season.Penn State has an impressive track record with promise of the best in American Football. Be a party to 2010 Penn State Season Tickets!
