Nhl Stanley Cup Finals Carolina Hurricanes Tickets

Nhl Stanley Cup Finals Carolina Hurricanes Tickets

Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup tickets are in demand for two reasons. First this is the team's first trip to the postseason since 2008-2009 season. Secondly, they are up against the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Washington Capitals in the First Round. This promises to be an epic clash between two teams in red hot form at the moment. Yes, the Capitals will be favorites going into the series but there is no way, they will be taking the Hurricanes lightly. And here is why; Since January 1st, only two other teams have picked up more points in the entire NHL than the side from Carolina. They closed out the regular season with a bang and now you can watch them get their postseason journey underway.

The Carolina Hurricanes are all about positivity right now. They have finally ended their ten year long playoff drought and now it is time for them to go up against the formidable Washington Capitals.

The Carolina Hurricanes' Formation

The Carolina Hurricanes were formed in the year 1972 as members of the World Hockey Association. They were known as the New England Whalers back then. They used to play their home games at the famous Boston Garden and the Boston Arena. Scheduling issues began to pop up for them to play their home games at the Boston Garden though as the venue was also the home of their NHL rivals, the Boston Bruins. So in the end, the Whalers relocated the franchise to Hartford to start playing in the 1974-1975 season.

The WHA and the NHL merged in the year 1979 however and the Whalers moved became members of the latter. Since Boston Bruins were already representing New England, they Whalers were named Hartford Whalers. They had won two conference titles and three division championships in the WHA but their NHL switch wasn't that successful. In the year 1997, their stay in Hartford ended as they moved to North Carolina and became the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes come to the party

The Carolina Hurricanes played for the first time in the 1997-1998 season but did not make it to the playoffs that season. They did not let that go on for long and immediately bounced back to clinch the division championship next year. In the playoffs, they went all the way to the Conference Quarterfinals where they lost to the Bruins 2-4.

The Hurricanes won another division title in 2001-2002 season and then followed that up by winning their maiden conference crown. That meant that the Hurricanes were now a series away from lifting the Stanley Cup. They could not overcome the last hurdle and lost to the Detroit Red Wings 1-4.

The Carolina Hurricanes were not to be denied for much longer though. They clinched another division title and a conference championship in 2005-2006 season. This time they were facing off against the Edmonton Oilers in NHL's showpiece series. The Hurricanes triumphed in a very closely fought series 4-3 to become Stanley Cup winners for the first time ever.

That however was their last successful season. They have just made one trip to the postseason since and have not managed to win any championships. Now however things are looking up again. The Hurricanes look rejuvenated and will be a tough test for any side that they come up against in the postseason. Get ready to watch them in action live by booking your Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup tickets at the earliest.
