New York Jets: A Brief History

The New York Jets began life as a professional football side in 1959. Known as the “Titans of New York” upon inception, they were one of the original members of the old American Football League (AFL). After the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the Jets were assigned to the American Football Conference (AFC) East Division.

The side from the Big Apple currently play their home games at the MetLife Stadium. It has served as their home field since 2010. Before that, the Jets played at the Giants Stadium (1984-2009), the Shea Stadium (1964-1983) and the Polo Grounds (1960-1963).

Many greats of the game have represented the Jets over the years and decades. These include the likes of Ed Reed, Brett Favre, Joe Namath, Ronnie Lott, Don Maynard, Curtis Martin, Ty Law and Jason Taylor among others.
