Ice hockey in the United States is governed by the National Hockey League, which has been around for over a century, governing the teams and tournaments that take place in the country. The New York Islanders are a team that plays in the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The team began in 1972, and the main reason for its development was to ensure that the NHL's rival hockey league could not take over the stadium that the team was meant to play at. Over the years, the team has produced many Hall of Famers and memorable wins. Find out how it fares this NHL season with New York Islanders tickets.

The New York Islanders are one of three teams that represent the New York metropolitan area, making them one of the most popular teams in the NHL due to the hockey-loving city they represent. Though the Islanders did not find much success in their early years, they became one of the top teams in the NHL in the early 1980s. The team had one of the few 'dynasties' recognized by the NHL when they won four consecutive Stanley Cups, and eight players from that winning team have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The team has since then tried to latch onto their glory days, but have failed to win any division championships since that time. That being said, it is about time that the team makes a resurgence, and the new Lighthouse Project that is being initiated by the team seems to be the way out of their bad form.
The New York Islanders currently play their home games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York. Fans flock to the stadium in the thousands, dressed in royal blue, orange, and white to support their favorite team through thick and thin. The team looks riled up this season, and many critics are predicting that this could be the season that the world gets to see what the New York Islanders are really capable of producing. The stadium can accommodate up to 17,000 fans, and game nights are nothing short of a carnival as a sea of blue, orange, and white descends upon the famous Coliseum when the New York Islanders battle fierce rivals such as the New York Rangers. If you too are a fan of the New York Islanders, it's time to get your colors on and get those New York Islanders tickets before making your way to the Coliseum for the next match.
Professional Ice hockey matches bear a special level of excitement in them for the fast pace of game and high level of skill required, and if a team like New York Islanders is playing, the thrill is multiplied many times.
Uniondale, New York based professional Ice Hockey team playing for the National Hockey League in Atlantic Division of Eastern Conference. It was formed in 1972 and remained based in Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum ever since its formation. Currently the team is owned by Charles Wang from USA, and its head coach is Jack Capuano.
In 1972 Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum was a new and modern arena, that World Hockey Association was interested to make home for its team New York Raiders. Nassau county officials did not want to give this coliseum to WHA as they believed it was not a major organization. To keep WHA out of this arena, they urged NHL to create a new team and base it here. As a result, New York Islanders was formed and Coliseum was given to the team as home ground.
Soon after their formation, the team began rising as a new competition for other teams in the area. New York Rangers, already unhappy with its formation in their home area, took it as a rival and competition between the two teams started heating up, especially after New York Islanders defeated New York Rangers in a best of three series in 1975. It was followed by a milestone performance in the NHL history when Islanders won four consecutive games and the series in a best of seven after losing three initial games against Pittsburgh Penguins. Such a feat was only done previously by three other major North American professional teams, including Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Red Socks and Philadelphia Flyers.
After a couple of years of more strenuous practice and a lot of team effort, New York Islanders were successful in winning their first Stanley Cup in 1980. The victory came as a good omen, as they went on winning the championship for three more years consecutively, making one of the only nine so called ‘dynasties’ in NHL history. These years were some of the best in team history, as it was considered as one of the best teams in NHL, having talented stars playing together with commendable team coordination.
Nevertheless, the team could not continue to be the best around after that decade for some time, as most of the key players departed, and funds were not utilized to replenish the talent team was losing with departing players. Team management changed, and coach was also replaced, but all these efforts could not translate into any big victory until 1993 when they reached playoffs after defeating many tough teams. This achievement proved to be only temporary, as the team again went into management crisis afterwards. The crisis could not be sorted for many years as the team struggled with its new coaches and new players coming in, until 2000 when the team was finally sold to Sanjay Kumar and Charles Wang, executives from Computer Associates. They gave Mike Milbury, the head coach, absolute power of picking players for the team, and after some controversial decisions and remaining unsuccessful for some games, the team re emerged as a competitive team on the NHL horizon. They even changed their logo and uniforms, thus giving the New York Islanders an all new look.
The team now uses Sparky the Dragon as its mascot, after discarding Nyiles, a mascot resembling logo fisherman. They also have Ice Girls who skate over the field to remove snow piling up during games. The team management used both Ice Girls as well as Sparky the Dragon in promotional campaigns.
With such a competitive track record, and eight of the former players being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, this team has the capacity to do wonders at any game. New York Islanders tickets offer sports fans the opportunity to watch hockey history in its making!
