The Mississippi State Bulldogs have been playing football since 1895. They have registered over five hundred wins and have been crowned conference champions several times. Their wins have come at an average of just under fifty percent. Ever since Mullen joined the team he has improved the win ratio to just under sixty percent. The 2014 Campaign
The team ended their 2014 season on a high note, having played their best season in many years. They were off to a sensational start with nine consecutive wins. Many people were comparing the team to the undefeated Bulldogs of 1940, the same team which won the program its only Southeastern Conference championship. However the Bulldogs faltered against Alabama and Ole Miss. Their terrific performance ensured them a berth in the Orange Bowl. The Bowl resulted in the third loss of the season came for the Bulldogs, against Georgia Tech in a closely contested game.

The Bulldogs have appeared in the Final AP Polls thirteen times while their coaches have made it to the Final Coaches Poll Ranking seven times. The team has a SEC West Division title to go along with their conference title. They have amassed ten Bowl victories over the years.
