A Profile of the Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves were founded in 1989 as one of the four original expansion teams in the league. The following year, they started playing all of their home games at the Target Center, where they still play today. The Timberwolves are currently owned by Glen Taylor.
The Glory Years
For the Timberwolves, their first few years as a team were tough. However, their fortunes began to change when they acquired Kevin Garnett during the 1995 NBA Draft. With Garnett in tow, the Minnesota Timberwolves became a winning team. Between 1997 and 2004 they qualified for eight consecutive playoffs. In the first seven playoffs, they lost during the first round. However, in the eighth round, they went on to win their first division title in 2004. They then went on to play in the Western Conference Finals.
2004 was an exceptional year for the Timberwolves. Afterwards they went through a bit of a slump and lost Garnett. In February 2015 however, the team got Garnett back in a trade and are looking to change their fortunes one more time.
