The Minnesota Timberwolves were founded in 1989 as one of the four expansion teams of the NBA. Their first season was the 1989-1990 season. A contest was held to decide the team's name, and in December 1986, the two finalists were Polars and Timberwolves. To finalize the winner, a vote was cast by 842 members of the city council, and the name Timberwolves won by a large margin. On January 23, 1987, the team was officially named the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The team made their debut on November 3, 1989, playing the first game of their debut season against the Seattle SuperSonics. They lost the game, and after five days, they played a game at their home stadium against the Chicago Bulls. They did not manage to win the match, but two days later, on November 10, 1989, they played a match in their home arena and gained their first victory, which was against the Philadelphia 76ers. The team was able to draw more than one million fans to the stadium, a record number for the NBA, making it the third-largest audience in the league's history.

Over the course of their career, the best season the Timberwolves have played was 2003-2004. This season resulted in Kevin Garnett becoming the MVP of the year. The team made NBA records and easily defeated the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets in the first two rounds of the playoffs. At the end of the game, Kevin Garnett famously jumped on the scorekeeper's table, an incident which is remembered as a defining moment in the team's history. However, their luck ran out in the Western Conference Finals, where they were beaten by the Lakers, the former team of Minnesota. Sam Cassell was unable to play in all the games due to a hip injury, and the team ultimately lost in the finals. Nevertheless, Kevin Garnett still received the MVP award for the season.

In the 2004-2005 season, the team roster remained the same as the previous season. However, some contract issues arose within the team, and some key players such as Troy Hudson, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell began to voice their complaints. At the time, Flip Saunders was coaching the team, but he left mid-season. For the remainder of the season, Kevin McHale became their coach, resulting in the team missing the playoffs after eight consecutive years of competing in them. The Memphis Grizzlies beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs by a single game.

The uniform colors of the Minnesota Timberwolves include slate blue, black, white, light green, and silver. David Kahn is the team's general manager and Kurt Rambis is the head coach. They have yet to win any championship games or conference titles, but they do have one Division title to their credit, which they won in 2004. The team has made eight consecutive playoff appearances, which is one of their greatest achievements. Get ready to have a smashing time with Minnesota Timberwolves tickets and witness the team hit back with a game to remember!
