Miami Dolphins: A Tradition of Excellence

The Miami Dolphins were established in 1965 by comedian Danny Thomas and lawyer Joe Robbie. They joined the old American Football League (AFL) and made their debut in the competition in 1966.

Following the merger of the AFL and the NFL in 1970, the Dolphins became a part of the new NFL’s American Football Conference (AFC) East Division. The Miami Orange Bowl was their first home stadium. The Phins played there until 1986 before moving to the Hard Rock Stadium which continues to be their home today.

Many great players have donned the Dolphins colors over the years. These include Pro Football Hall of Famers like Paul Warfield, Dan Marino, Bob Griese and Dwight Stephenson among others.
