Marshall Thundering Herd Tickets

Formed in 1895, the Marshall Thundering Herd football team is one of the fifteen varsity franchises that play from the Marshall University. Apart from football the institution also supports sports’ programs such as baseball, basketball, cross county, football, soccer, golf, volleyball, track and field, swimming and diving, softball and tennis. The Marshall University’s football program currently competes in National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Eastern division in the USA Conference. The team plays its homes games at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The open air stadium located in Huntington, West Virginia offers  a seating capacity of thirty nine thousand people including expandable space that can cater to audiences as much as fifty thousand.

The Marshall Thundering Herd football team currently holds the record of the best overall score by a football franchise at its home stadium. With a score of 118-19, the Herd surpasses renowned teams from University of Alabama and West Virginia University. With Marco the Buffalo as its official mascot, the Herd currently supports the colors green and white at all their games. Coached by Doc Holliday with Mike Hamrick as its athletic director, the Herd is a force to reckon with.

Over more than a decade of games, the Herd has been able to establish an all-time record score of 542-520-47. Their postseason bowl record is 7-3 after making their way to ten bowl games. Over their career, the Herd has won two National Collegiate Athletic Association titles, twelve Conference titles and forty four Consensus All-Americans titles. If this wasn’t enough the football franchise has also gathered six MAC Championships from 1998 till 2002. The team also supports long established rivals with teams namely the West Virginia Mountaineers, East Carolina Pirates, Ohio Bobcats and UCF Knights.

Four of the team’s players have won individual awards such as the Walter Payton Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award, Sammy Baugh Trophy and William V. Campbell Trophy. These awards have been given to players including Michael Payton, Randy Moss and Chad Pennington respectively. Players who have been inducted to the NCAA Hall of Fame include Mike Barber, Harry Young, Jackie Hunt, Troy Brown, Jim Donnan and Frank Gatski.
