The franchise was formed as the Oakland Raiders in 1960 as a member of the American Football League. The Raiders recorded their maiden trip to the playoffs in 1967 and it ended in them clinching the division title and the AFL Championship. The Raiders then made it to the postseason in each of the next three campaigns, and also won the division crown in every season.
The Las Vegas Raiders then recorded their most successful period in history. From 1972 and 1976, they clinched five successive division crowns, one conference crown, and their first Super Bowl win. They got their hands on their next Super Bowl in 1980 and then followed that up with another Super Bowl win in 1983.

Las Vegas Raiders Rivalries
The Las Vegas Raiders have rivalries with some formidable teams. Their three biggest rivals are:
Kansas City Chiefs
One of the Raiders’ biggest rivals are the Kansas City Chiefs. The animosity between these two sides goes all the way back to the AFL. It all began in 1969 when the Chiefs won the AFL Championship game against the Raiders and then ended up winning the Super Bowl as well.
Denver Broncos
The Raiders also have an extremely hostile rivalry with the Denver Broncos. From 1965 to 1971, the Raiders went on a rampage against the Broncos and won 14 straight games against their Denver counterparts. The run snapped in October, 1972 when the Broncos came out on top 30-23.
Los Angeles Chargers
This rivalry began in 1963 when the then Oakland Raiders beat the Chargers not once but twice. Those losses did not sit well the Chargers as they were the favorites in those two clashes. To make it worse, on both occasions, the Raiders came from behind to win the games in the fourth quarter.
