The La Salle Explorers are the many varsity teams that make up the highly successful athletics program of the La Salle University. It is a member of the A-10 Conference, within the NCAA Division I. The athletics director is Dr. Thomas Brennan and the university itself is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The program is home to twenty three teams. The football teams practive at the McCarthy Stadium whereas the basketball teams do so at the Tom Gola Arena. The Hank DeVincent Field is where the baseball teams practice. The La Salle Explorers basketball teams are members of the Philadelphia Big 5. Teams from this athletic program have won a number of National NCAA championships, as well as the National Invitational Tournament, when the tournament was considered as the premier event in college sports. It has a historic rivalry with the Saint Joseph’s University’s Hawks, particularly in men’s basketball.
