The history of the Kansas Jayhawks Football team goes all the way back to its inception in 1890. Although the University's football program is not as successful as its basketball program, it is still a well-reputed athletic program. Like the basketball team, the Jayhawks football team has also produced some of the finest players of our time. One of them happens to be Hall of Famer and two-time All American and former Chicago Bears player, Gale Sayers. Other greats of the game produced by the Jayhawks include Hall of Famer John Riggins, Mike McCormack, Bobby Douglass, Nolan Cromwell, and Dana Stubblefield. The team plays its home games at Memorial Stadium, which has the capacity to hold 50,071 audience members. Over the years, the team has managed to make three Orange Bowl appearances so far.
