A Little History
It was in April of 2009 when the CHL made the announcement that an expansion team would be awarded to Independence. A contest was held to name that new franchise and it was decided that the side would be called "Missouri Mavericks." The name was changed to its current one in March of 2017.
On May 29, 2009 Scott Hillman was announced as the side' first ever head coach. The Mavericks played their first ever home game on November 13, 2009 at the Independence Events Center. The next few years were a bit of a roller coaster ride. The CHL folded in 2014 and the Mavericks moved to the ECHL. The team was then bought by Lamar Hunt Jr. in February of 2015.
Titles
The Mavericks' stint in the CHL was not without success though as they were crowned regular season champions in the 2013-2014 season. They followed that up by repeating the trick in the 2015-2016 campaign as members of the ECHL. The Mavericks also clinched the division title in the same season.
