Ghana are one of the strongest African soccer teams. They have qualified for their third successive World Cup and will be a tough opponent for anyone in the event. They have plenty of talent to call upon and it should not come as a surprise to anyone if they manage to upset one or two illustrious teams. Since their participation in the World Cup for the first time in 2006, Ghana has made quite a few headlines. They will be looking to do the same this time around as well. So if you are into soccer, then grab your Ghana tickets and make your way to Brazil to see one of the most talented teams in the tournament in action live from the stands.

Ghana have really made their mark on international soccer in the last few years. They are one of the most formidable soccer teams in the world today and have come up leaps and bounds in their performance overall. Also known as the “Black Stars,’ they will once again enter this year’s World Cup in Brazil as one of the strongest teams from Africa. The kind of talent they have in their ranks will make sure that they are not intimidated by whoever they come up against. A lot of teams in the tournament will be wary of the African nation; that is for sure. You can now watch them play live in the biggest soccer tournament in the world and all you have to do in order to do that is buy your Ghana tickets.

Ghana trace their soccer roots back to the year 1920 when the Gold Coast Football Association was formed. That body then evolved into the Ghana Football Association in the year 1957 and played a big part in the nation joining the sport’s global governing body, FIFA, in 1958.

Ghana as a soccer nation first made its mark on the African continent when they went on to win back to back African Cup of Nations in 1963 and 1965. These double triumphs were instrumental in putting Ghana on the soccer map. People all around the world began to sit up and take notice as well.

No major titles followed after that for a few years but Ghana were crowned African Champions for the third time when they went on to lift the African Cup of Nations in 1978. Another one followed four years later in 1982. Ghana was going from strength to strength in soccer but they still hadn’t made it to the World Cup. That however was about to change very soon.

Ghana qualified for their first ever World Cup in 2006 and went as far as the Round of 16. The Black Stars made it to the FIFA World Cup 2010 as well and this time they went one step ahead. Ghana became only the third African country to make it to the quarterfinals. They faced Uruguay but came up short in one of the games of the tournament.

Ghana are in Group G of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. They will be joined by Germany, Portugal and USA. It is a tough group which is being labeled by many as the “Group of Death.” If it won’t be easy for Ghana to make it to the next round from such a hard group, then it will not be a walk in the park for the other three teams as well. The eyes of the world will be at this group to see which two teams make it to the round of 16. And Ghana has all the potential to pull it off.  They are very good at soccer and this is the perfect time to show that.
