Cody Johnson is a unique musician. Since making his debut back in 2006, the country singer and songwriter has self-released 6 albums to-date, with the sixth one Gotta Be Me claiming the number 2 spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart in 2016. Talk about taking the road less traveled. And the Huntsville native is just getting started.
How It All Started
Following the release of his first album after signing with a record label, Johnson is set to take the country music scene by storm. Having started singing and playing the guitar at the age of 12, Johnson came into the spotlight when he started playing alongside his father Carl and drummer Nathan Reedy. The trio recorded and released the album Black and White Label in 2006 under Johnson’s own label “CoJo.”
Following the release of Black and White Label, lead guitar player Matt Rogers joined the band and a live studio album Live and Rocking was released in 2007, once again under Johnson’s independent label. Shortly after that, Johnson’s father left the band and Danny Salinas joined the lineup as a bass guitarist.
Continued Success
