The Chick Fil A Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that is held in Atlanta, Georgia since 1968. The original name for the event was the Peach Bowl. Chick Fil A has been sponsoring it since 1997 and it started to be called Chick Fil-A Peach Bowl since. From the years 2006 till 2013, it was officially known as just Chick Fil-A Bowl. The first three Peach Bowl games took place at the Georgia Tech campus’ Grant Field. Between 1971 and 1992, the game was then played at the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and since 1993, the Georgia Dome has been the host. The Evolution of Chick Fil A Peach Bowl
Created by the Lion’s Club of Atlanta in 1968, the Chick Fil A Bowl has now evolved into one of the most awaited sporting events of the year. In 1986, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce became the new managers of the Bowl and in 1991, ESPN became the exclusive TV partner, giving the Bowl a much larger coverage than before. In 1992, the Bowl moved to its new home at Georgia Dome and in 1996, Chick Fil A became the Bowl’s first and only title partner. The year 2008 saw the first kickoff game under Chick Fil A . In 2012, the Chick Fil A Kickoff game opened the football season with BCS-style games, back to back at the same venue. 2013 was a big year for the Bowl as it was selected along with 5 others to host the new College Football Playoff. In 2014, the franchise added Peach back to its name and it was once again the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl!
The Bowl is all set to move to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium once it opens in mid-2017.
