The Hurricanes were formed in 1972 as members of the WHA. They played in the league till 1979 after which they made the move to the NHL and were named the Hartford Whalers. The franchise then moved to Carolina become the Hurricanes.

They won their first conference title in the 2001-2002 campaign and then followed that up by winning the Stanley Cup in 2005-2006. The Philadelphia Flyers joined the NHL in 1967 and have enjoyed a lot of success since. They first clinched the division championship in the 1967-1968 season. They won another division title in the 1973-1974 season but that year will be remembered by the Flyers fans for their maiden Stanley Cup triumph.

They went on to clinch their first conference title in 1974-1975, a season that also saw them win their third division championship and second Stanley Cup. The Flyers have in total won 2 Stanley Cups, 8 conference titles and 16 division championships.
