The Canadian Finals Rodeo is the last main event held by the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association and serves as the National Championship rodeo in Canada. It is considered as one of the most prestigious rodeo prizes in the country and offers a large amount of prize money, usually worth around a million Canadian dollars. Lasting a week, this year the championships will be held from November 6th to November 10th.
The annual event is usually held in November, at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta. It has been an integral part of the rodeo circuit in Canada since its inception in 1974. The Rexall Place is a very famous venue. It is home to the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and is the third oldest NHL venue overall.
A rodeo is basically a competitive sport which pits man against farm animals like bulls and mares. The event also says farewell to the out-going Miss Rodeo while welcoming a new champion.
