A Rich History

The Milwaukee Arena (also known as the Mecca Arena) was the first home of the Bucks before the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee replaced it in 1988. Milwaukee Bucks Playoff Exploits
The Bucks have enjoyed a very good postseason record over the years. Their most successful period was during the early to mid-1970s. With the inimitable Kareem Abdul-Jabbar driving them on, the Bucks romped to the Central Division and Eastern Conference titles in 1971 before dispatching the Baltimore Bullets in straight games to win their maiden NBA crown.
All this came just three years after beginning life as an expansion franchise. With this unprecedented success, the Bucks became the quickest of any expansion team in the history of professional sports in North America to land a major title.
Another Conference title followed in 1974 while a quadruple of Central Division triumphs was also completed from 1971 to 1974. Having been snapped up by the Milwaukee Bucks as a rookie in the 1968 NBA Draft, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar went on to become one of their greatest ever players.
In fact, for people like NBA coach Pat Riley and former player Julius Erving, Jabbar is the greatest of all time. Michael Jordan fans will probably disagree but Jabbar’s pedigree and exploits certainly put him in the same bracket.
After a not-so-successful latter half of the 70s, the Bucks went on another great run. They won 7 straight Central Division titles between 1980 and 1986. Now led by the likes of Sidney Moncrief, Craig Hodges and Paul Pressey, they were perennial contenders for the crown in the Eastern Conference during this time.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been the most frequent opponents for the Bucks in the playoffs followed by the Boston Celtics. Current defending champions Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers have also locked horns with the Bucks on a few occasions. The Bucks boast impressive win percentages of over 60% against both outfits.
