Formed back in 1900, FC Bayern Munich was created by football player Franz John. Along with ten other talented athletes, Bayern was able to attract the attention of fans within a year. Qualifying for the semi-finals of South German Championship in 1900-01, the team was able to bag several local trophies in the following years. They became a part of Kreisliga in 1911, a newly founded Bavarian regional league. The club was able to dominate the league in the 1911 and 1914. During this time World War I broke out and football games came to a halt. After the end of the war, things went back to normal and Bayern was able to win numerous regional competitions. Their very first big win occurred in 1926 when the team was able to win the South German Championship. The team was seen winning the title once again, two years later. Another feat was achieved in the years to come, when FC Bayern Munich won their first national league title i.e. the German Championship in 1932. Winning the game against Eintracht Frankfurt with a score of 2-0, the football franchise was head by coach, Richard Kohn.
With this Bayern became a part of Oberliga Sud, a Southern German Conference. Their next big win occurred in 1955 when they were able to win the DFB-Pokal also known as the DFB Cup. They bagged the win competing against Fortuna Dusseldorf with a score of 1-0. In 1965, Bayern was chosen for Bundesliga, the top football league of Germany. Winning the German Cup, the franchise was able to finish third at the end of the season. This placed them amongst the qualifying teams for the European Cup. Winning their first European Cup Winners’ Cup against the Scottish Rangers in 1965, the team ended the game in a dramatic extra time win of 1-0. Since its inception, FC Bayern Munich had been winning with an offensive playing style. This was changed when Branko Zebec took charge of the team and introduced a more disciplined approach to playing during the seventies. Under his leadership, Bayern was able to win a double cup as well as a league title, creating history in Bundesliga.
Currently Bayern Munich is coached by Josep Guardiola with Jupp Heynckes as its general manager. The current squad of the team consists of midfielders Alcantara, Ribery, Martinez, Robben and Shaqiri; defenders Dante, Butyen, Rafinha, Kirchhoff and Boateng; forward players Mandzukic and Pizzaro and goalkeeper Neuer. Bayern has grown to become one of the biggest football clubs of Germany, generating approximately four hundred million Euros in 2012.
