Named in honor of the famous brewing industry of Milwaukee, the Brewers joined the league as an expansion franchise in 1969. The franchise was established in Seattle and was named the Seattle Pilots. However, the club relocated a year later to Milwaukee and changed its name.

Milwaukee Brewers are members of the Central division of the National League.
