The first song "Make Me Wanna Die" by the group was featured in the 2010 movie, Kick-Ass and was also performed at the Warped Tour 2010 by the band. It was a hit song and received positive reviews, reaching number one position on the UK Rock chart. The group found a balance between post-grunge and hard rock, taking nods from female-fronted ensembles including The Runaways and Hole. The band released its debut album titled Light Me Up in 2010 in the UK, spawning three fairly successful songs like "Goin' Down", "My Medicine" and "Make Me Wanna Die". With the release of this record, The Pretty Reckless embarked on its second tour called The Medicine Tour, appearing as a support act for Evanescence and Marilyn Manson. The group has gone on many tours, opening the V Festival in 2010 in UK and also performed at the Barrowland Ballroom in the same year. The band has also performed in a number of European festivals like Wireless Festival, Rock Am Ring, Optimus Alive and many others. The Pretty Reckless also made an appearance at the Download Festival performing to sold-out crowd.

In an MTV interview, the band’s lead singer Taylor Momsen cited Oasis and The Beatles along with Nirvana as the major influences. She also said that her personal inspirations include Joan Jett and Kurt Cobain. In 2012, The Pretty Reckless released a soundtrack Frankenweenie Unleashed!, for the 2012 movie "Frankenweenie". The fourth single by the band "Kill Me" came out in the same year. This single was featured in the final episode of the serial "Gossip Girl".  The Pretty Reckless has been nominated for the Virgin Media Music Award in the categories of ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Group’ in 2010.

The Pretty Reckless Announce First Show in Two Years

Fans of the rock band The Pretty Reckless are in for a treat as they have announced their first concert in two years. They will be performing as part of the Download Festival UK on June 13. The festival will run from 12-14 June, 2020. Music acts including Iron Maiden, Kiss and System of a Down are the headliners of the fest.
