  • The duo Rzeznik and Takac has come up with a pop-rock album that features intimate and personal lyrics. The opening song "Indestructible" has Rzeznik reminiscing in regret about a past lover. The upbeat melody and powerful words make it a layered effort.
  • "Step in Line" and "Life’s a Message" highlight the solo singing of Takac and his vocal performance steals the show. His voice beautifully blends with guitar riffs and buoyant synths.
  • The title track "Miracle Pill" is a poignant number, in which the duo seamlessly fuses rock with pop to create an ingenious composition. The lyrics about heartbreak are deep and emotional, and showcase the band's evolution.
  • The foundation of Goo Goo Dolls' 12th album is solid songwriting, driven more by keyboards this time than the guitars.
  • The band is known for pushing the envelope and they don't disappoint this time around as well. They have effectively evolved their sound and created an album that can easily be called one of their best.

The Goo Goo Dolls have cemented their place in the industry as one of the most successful adult rock bands of the 1990’s. Formed in 1986, the band came into mainstream success in 1995 with the release of their fifth studio album. Since then, it has only been upwards for this band that now enjoys an induction in the Guitar Center RockWalk Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. While critics were initially apprehensive of the sound of the band, recently, they have hailed the band as an iconic group of the adult and alternative rock genre. Currently, the band consists of original band members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac on vocals, guitar and bass.

Over the last two decades, the band has built a repertory that includes some of our generations most successful and most recognized music. Their debut album was released in 1987. While it failed to top charts or hit off in the market, the album was noted by some for its lyrical mastery. 1989 saw the release of their second album, Jed, that gave the band a small cult following. The third and fourth album followed suit in 1990, with Hold Me Up and Superstar Car Wash making limited sales.

It wasn’t until 1995 that the band gained mainstream success. The fifth studio album, A Boy Named Goo, ended up garnering critical and commercial success for the band. It sold double platinum, and spawned hit singles such as “Name,” “Eyes Wide Open” and “Long Way Down.” The band went from being a cult favorite to a mass favorite and critics appreciated the song writing prowess of John Rzeznik.

Following suit, the 1998 release, Dizzy Up the Girl, gave the band an international fan base. To date, this is perhaps the most successful album of the band, and has given their repertory classic hits such as “Iris,” “Black Balloon,” “Slide” and “Dizzy.” This album alone has sold over three million copies word wide, and the song “Iris” has become iconic in its own right. Since the release of this album, the band has enjoyed consistent success with their subsequent releases, all of which have peaked among the top ten on the charts. The band has released ten studio albums in total, and have produced twenty eight chart topping, smash hit singles that includes “Better Days,” “Let Love In,” “Notbroken,” and “Here Is Gone.”

In 2013, the band released their tenth studio effort titled Magnetic. The album helped the band resurface in mainstream popularity, though faithful followers never left the bands’ side through their dry patch in the late 2000’s. This year, they co-headline a tour with rock band Daughtry that is all set to go across North America during the summer. Both bands will be promoting their new albums, and loyal fans are thrilled. A rock band that emerged on the American music scene in 1986 from the crumbling rust belt city of Buffalo in the U.S. state of New York is now known to world as Goo Goo Dolls. Having a strong impact on the music industry, it was indeed one of the original alternative bands to have found massive success across the country. For almost over two decades, the Goo Goo Dolls continue to win millions of hearts worldwide by presenting inspiring live shows before its audiences. The group has been nominated for various Grammy's and won several prestigious awards, including the 2008 Excellence Award.

Led by one of the founding members of the band - John Rzeznik, who does the lead vocals, lead guitar, and often provides backing vocals, the other two members of the Goo Goo Dolls includes Robby Takac (backing vocalist/ bass guitarist/lead vocalist) and Mike Malinin (drummer/percussionist). Till date, the trio has released nine studio albums, selling over 9.5 million records in the United States of America alone. The band is also quite popular for its touring around the globe. Musicians have been joining the band on its tours in the past years. Currently, it is joined by members such as Brad Fernquist, a rhythm guitarist, and mandolin player and Korel Tunador who plays the guitar, keyboards, and saxophone, while often providing the band with backing vocals.

Formed by band members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, the Goo Goo Dolls initially comprised of George Tutuska on the drums and percussion. Takac and Tutuska had a long-time friendship since their schooldays and Rzeznik was playing in a band called The Beaumonts with Takac's cousin. The trio got together and selected its name from a True Detective ad for a toy called a Goo Goo Doll. The three basically started the band to kill time, compose some music, and with the hope of getting a few free beers from the clubs where they were fortunate enough to get a gig.

Having Takac as the Goo Goo Dolls lead singer, the band released its self-titled debut album, Goo Goo Dolls on Mercenary Records in 1987. In the following year, a larger record company, called Celluloid Records, picked up the album. The band's sophomore effort was released in 1989 and was entitled Jed. Both these albums received a mixed response from the public. The sound of the band had been compared with The Replacements' sound. Nevertheless, Goo Goo Dolls was popular on the local college radio and also in live venues such as CBGB. Their third release - Hold Me Up, received a much positive response from the masses, and featured Rzeznik as the lead vocalist on five tracks, including the single, 'There You Are' and 'Two Days in February'. The album comprised ingredients of pop rock, heavy metal, and punk rock. The band's 1993 release, Superstar Car Wash, proved to be a huge success, being critically reviewed and gaining considerable media attention. Released on Metal Blade Records, the albums showed some real encouraging sales, increasing the profit of the label. The track 'We Are the Normal' became a super hit and was even displayed on MTV's 120 Minutes program. The trio's fifth studio album - A Boy Named Goo brought Goo Goo Dolls into mainstream. It featured blockbuster single titles 'Name'. The album turned out to be the first album in Metal Blade history to achieve double-platinum status.

Over the years, the band has been creating waves in the music industry with more phenomenal albums and outstanding live shows. Once again, Goo Goo Dolls is all set to hit the road for another tour, for which, fans throughout the nation are going wild with excitement.
