If you were growing up in the sixties and seventies then you will definitely be familiar with Babe, Lady, The Best of Times, Mr Roboto, Renegade, Show Me the Way and Come Sail Away. These have been identity of Styx for their entire musical career. The band has been performing for more than three decades and holds the record for four consecution multi platinum albums. Each of these albums sold more than 2 million copies and made them rock legends in their own special way. They have released fifteen studio albums followed by a couple of live recordings and compilation albums.

Styx’s beginning was just like any other high school band but what happened afterwards is worth remembering. They had a distinguishable talent that took them all the way up to the heights of stardom. The band signed their first singing contract with Wooden Nickel records titled as Styx. Their reason for choosing this name was that this was the only option that all of them didn’t hate.  The band lineup consisted of twin brothers Chuck Panozzo and John Panozzo along with their neighbor Dennis DeYoung. It also had James J.Y Young and John Curulewski on the guitars making them a quintet.

Styx released their first album with Wooden Nickel records in 1971 titles as the Wooden Nickel Recordings followed by a set of eponymous albums. Their music of the earlier days is known for its intricate instrumentalism and dramatic effects. The Serpent is Rising and Man of Miracles evince the straight ahead progressive rock and dramatic art rock inspirations. Their "Serpent is Rising" is the first and most eminent concept albums by them. This album is what defined Styx in the real terms and gave a direction to their musical endeavor. These albums were a major hit in the local clubs becoming the anthem of the youth in Chicago. The songs of the album also gained noticeable air time on the local radios.

The band progressively took on the fast track and signed a contract with A&M records. Some of the major and most successful albums of the band were released under this record producer. Their releases like Equinox and Crystal Ball were their claim to main stream success with hits like Lorelei, Mademoiselle and This Old Man. The band’s multiplatinum series of albums initiated with The Grand Illusion in 1977. The next in the row was Pieces of Eight followed by Cornerstone. The Paradise Theatre was the final part of their progressively productive spell. The late seventies and early eighties are the most memorable years of their career.

The straight rock band is back again to recreate the magic of their progressive rock. They have teamed up to perform some of their best songs once again. The current band members include James Young, Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips. They have been known for their action packed live performances. They are ready again with a brand new album Regeneration: Volume 1. This album is going to reincarnate them into a new generation of rock artists. Styx: United We Rock tour

Styx will team up with REO Speedwagon and Don Felder to headline the “United We Rock” tour this summer.  The trek will kick off proceedings on June 20, 2017 at the Sunlight Supple Amphitheatre in Ridgefield. From there they will make their way to places like Auburn, Concord, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Paso Robles, Denver, Tampa, Nashville, Detroit, Dallas, Houston and Wantagh among other cities. The United We Stand Tour is scheduled to come to close on August 22, 2017 in Holmdel at the PNC Bank Arts Center.
