Date & Time

Steel Panther is a Los Angeles based heavy/Glam metal rock band that has established its reputation for comical and somewhat blasphemous lyrical content and their live performance persona which represent the burlesque Glam metal musicians from the eighties. The quartet was created in 2000, playing under several names including Metal Skool, Metal Shop and Danger Kitty. The lineup comprises of Ralph Saenz called Michael Starr on stage, performing the lead vocals while playing acoustic guitars; Russ Parrish also known as Satchel working on the rhythm, acoustic and lead guitars alongside providing backing vocals; Travis Haley, performing under stage name Lexxi Foxxx, playing the bass and doing backing vocals; and lastly, Darren Leader, with stage name Stix Zadinia on the drums and percussion. The group created a high tempo version of an Aldo Nova track called Fantasy, which was telecasted on MTV series known as Fantasy Factory by Rob Dyrek. The song went on to gain much popularity, later on being made available on iTunes towards the end of 2009. Owing to their rather groovy stage attitude, Steel Panther tickets are a favorite treat among rock freaks.

Steel Panther initially began performing as the Metal Shop at places like Sunset Strip during early 2000, focusing on playing weekly shows at the well-known Viper Room on Monday nights and played metal hit covers from the eighties while also delivering parodied versions of those bands. Though the musicians played under stage names, two of the members had already found fame in the line through other hard rock acts; Lead vocalist Michael Starr had the experience of playing for renowned metal group L.A. Guns through 1997-98, during which time the group released an EP called Wasted that consisted of six tracks. Prior to that, Saenz had been the leading act of a national rock ensemble known as Atomic Punks, which meant to pay tribute to Van Halen. Satchel, the guitarist, had been performing with War & Peace formed by Jeff Pilson, the group Electric Fence with musicians Jeff Martin and Paul Gilbert while he also played for the band Fight, which was created by the Judas Priest lead singer Rob Halford. Satchel had also been part of the Atomic Punks alongside Saenz.

In 2002, present day Steel Panther released a promotional single called Love Rocket under band title Danger Kitty. On a joking note, the group pretends to be one of those glam metal bands that could not succeed in the eighties, which is why the group’s formal biography page claims that the quarter has been playing since the late eighties, but is now doing fine owing to their hair-sprayed image, zebra spandex and leather jackets alongside their role in a Van Halen tribute group. In 2003, the Panthers released their debut album Hole Patrol, following which they made an appearance in an advertisement for Discover Card as Danger Kitty, and the Drew Carey Show sitcom. The same year, their track Death to All but Metal was published as part of a compilation CD by Metal Sludge via website. By the end of 2007, the band was playing at Gene Simmons performing the original as well as cover tunes of bands such as KISS. Later that year, the group also made a concert appearance on an episode of Las Vegas, performing as themselves.

The band did not officially name itself Steel Panther until 2008, when it made an all new debut appearance in California’s Redlands at The Rockin’ Saddle Club, a month after which they signed with Republic Records and talked about their upcoming studio offering. The first track, which was a revised edition of Death to All but Metal, was first made available in the beginning of 2009 on iTunes, while the hit album titled Feel the Steel, under the production of Jay Ruston was released a few months later, in June. In the mean time the band shot a promotional video for the single Fat Girl, which was directed by Dean Cameron.

Steel Panther have been touring in the UK since the end of 2011, performing shows in London, Sheffield, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham and Birmingham. The group has released three studio albums so far which includes Hole Patrol, Balls Out and Feel the Steel, of which the latter two have been spotted on the Number One spot in US Comedy. If you want to have fun night of rock and metal alongside some charismatic on-stage parodies, then get hold of those Steel Panther tickets.
