Developing interest in rap music

Born to Mexican parents as Claudia Alexandra Feliciano, Snow The Product moved to San Diego, California where she discovered rap music for the first time. Her interest in hip-hop began to grow rapidly during her teenage years and she was very often seen freestyling with her friends. Even though she was obsessed with rap, Feliciano enrolled herself in San Diego Mesa College but dropped out in order to make a career in the hip-hop industry. This started a new chapter in her life and she began to write and record her songs in Spanish which caught the attention of famed Latin pop star, Jamie Kohen who asked her to provide the verse on his song, Alguien. The track featured on Kohen’s studio record, ‘Fotosíntesis.’  

She was inspired by stars like, Missy Elliot, Eminem, 2Pac, Aaliyah, Tech N9ne and Ludacris. Snow Tha Product perfected her rapping skills and released her first mixtape, ‘Raising the Bar’ in 2008. It featured four remix versions of famous songs, Miss Independent by Ne-Yo, Right Now (Na Na Na) by Akon, Swagga Like Us by Jay-Z and Who’s Hotter Than Me? by Plies. She also went on to perform at the South by Southwest Festival for two consecutive years which brought her national popularity. During that time, she put out two more mixtapes, ‘Run Up or Shut Up’ and ‘Wake Ya Game Up, Vol. 1.’

Unorthodox

To capitalize on her new found fame, Snow Tha Product decided to record her debut studio album and dropped, ‘Unorthodox’ on October 26, 2011. This album gave her the push she needed to become an even bigger star. Two tracks from the record turned out to be big hits and they were titled, Drunk Love and Woke Wednesday. Both songs garnered more than a million hits on YouTube and were approved by rap fans. Besides these two songs, the album also gave a single, Holy Shit which featured on the Grammy winning rapper, 50 Cent’s website, Thisis50.com.  

These three songs became so successful that it led to her receiving record deals from different labels including, Atlantic Records with which she signed. In the same year, she released her fourth mixtape, ‘Orthodox 0.5’ which was followed by, ‘Good Nights & Bad Mornings’ which hit the markets in 2012.

In 2013, Snow Tha Product came out with the sequel of her fifth mixtape titled, ‘Good Nights & Bad Mornings 2: The Hangover.’ Produced by stars like, Arthur McArthur, The Cataracs, Cardo and ID Labs, the record contained twenty two tracks out of which seven were collaborative efforts with different artists like, Tech N9ne, Ty Dolla $ign, Dizzy Wright and Cyhi the Prynce. In 2015, she dropped her next mixtape, ‘The Rest Comes Later’ which gave her more fame.

Snow Tha Product Tour

On June 17, 2016, Atlantic Records issued Snow Tha Product’s debut extended play, ‘Half Way There… Pt. 1.’ The EP peaked at the ninth and thirteenth spot on the Heatseekers Albums and the Top Rap Albums chart respectively. It also featured guest appearances by stars like, W. Darling, Ohana Bum and PnB Rock.

A year later, she treated fans to new music by sharing three songs, Waste of Time, Nuestra Cancion and I Don’t Wanna Leave.
