Get Queens Of The Stone Age tickets to listen to the rock band live as they tour in support of their album “Villains.”

Palm Desert, California based American Hard Rock band Queens of the Stone Age was founded in 1997. Josh Homme started the band after his previous group Kyuss was disbanded, and named it Gamma Ray but renamed it to Queens of the Stone Age once he realized there was already a German power metal band named Gamma Ray. Band members now includes Josh himself playing the guitar and on lead vocals, Troy Van Leeuwen on backing vocals and playing lap steel and guitars, Joey Castillo on percussion and drums, Dean Fertita on guitars and keyboards and Michael Shuman on bass guitar apart from backing Josh’s vocals.

The band was named as Queens of the Stone Age after a comment from Chris Goss, the producer when Josh played in Kyuss, who believed those boys looked like queens from Stone Age. The band chose not to name it kings instead of queens as kings, according to Josh, would be too ‘macho’ and manly and would give a rude impression of the band.

Initial releases from the band included some EPs like Gamma Ray, Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age etc that were not commercially very successful but did manage to get the newly formed band some recognition in public. In 1998 the band released its first self titled complete studio album that received a good response from public and contained some songs that gained popularity among the masses. Following the release, there was some reshuffling in the band, with members leaving and new members joining. It was in 1999 that the band released its second album Rated R. One of the controversies that arose after its release was a song contained in it titled Feel Good Hit of the Summer. It was used by the band for publicity of their album as well, and a retail mega store Wal-Mart claimed the song promoted and glamorized drug abuse. Nevertheless, the controversy never took enough public attention to hamper the new album’s sales. Public popularity for the band increased as the album did good business in the market.

In 2004 the band released their new album, Songs for the Deaf. A special feature in this album was that while it was in the making, Dave Grohi, the drummer from the band Nirvana and the front man from Foo Fighters joined the band among other renowned members. Public loved it, and the third album did a marvelous business and also helped the band to establish its identity as a competitive new entity. Josh Homme also intensified the touring for promotion, and it manifested in the band’s popularity and public recognition graph climbing higher and higher.

Lullabies to Paralyze and Era Vulgaris were the two subsequent albums by the band, and were released in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Both albums received good public response and provided the band with solid financial base for expansion and new projects. The commercial success and fame also provided the band members some freedom to experiment with their music, and fans now see Queens of the Stone Age as a band that knows no boundaries for its music. Their musical style has been broadly classified by the critics into alternative rock, hard rock, art rock, psychedelic rock and heavy metal, but it is a unanimous opinion that their music is difficult to be described as belonging to any one of the genres. With so much on their credit and such a strong fan following, Queens of the Stone Age tickets provide music lovers opportunity to witness masters of rock music perform some of the best rock of modern times in front of them!
