PVRIS’ soon-to-be-released album, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need from Hell is nothing short of the band’s second coming. In it, they have created a Goth-rock sound in keeping with their peers Paramore and Fall Out Boy which is resonating well with their fans and infact increasing PVRIS’ fan base. Unconventional in every sense of the word, the trio celebrates individuality in their latest singles from the album. These singles provide some iconic tunes that have the potential of becoming household songs. It is evident that pop rock is much in demand nowadays because PVRIS is touring the U.S along with bands such as Muse and Blink 182. Pvris tickets for multiple concerts are available now.

Where it all began
At eighteen, Lynn Gunn bid her family goodbye as she embarked on her first world tour with bandmates Alex Babinski and Brian Macdonald. Upon leaving, she told her mother to read a letter under her pillow, got in the van and left. The letter contained a confession, a confession Gunn felt was important to make before the possibility of entering the public eye; that Gunn was infact gay.
During the 90’s, this confession was still considered a big deal, however, Gunn’s family took it really well. The public took it well too, and the band members’ sexuality never became a subject to ponder over; their excellent music overshadowed such trivialities.
Fairly recent on the commercial scene, PVRIS has edged its way into mainstream music by consistent track-by-track improvement. Starting out on the tender ages of eighteen to twenty-one, the band’s members have matured musically over the years, and their lyrics this time round are self-assured; directional. Given to Gunn’s struggle with and opening up about her sexuality, the band has become a symbol for the LGBTQA community. However, their fan base is not restricted by social classifications and their music caters to all.
‘PVRIS’ pronounced as ‘Paris’
The first time around, the band started out as ‘PARIS’. However, upon gaining recognition, they fell into copyright issues and had to change the name. Since a lot of fans had begun recognizing them as ‘PARIS’, they decided simply to turn the ‘A’ upside down (change it to a ‘V’). As the band has said in multiple interviews, this has actually helped them out because it stirs intrigue and allows them to stand apart.
White Noise
White Noise, PVRIS’ debut LP, immediately gained recognition given to Gunn’s passionate and versatile presence, powerhouse vocals and the band’s incorporation of electronic elements to their music. They take a series of risks on the album, infusing popular music with gothic rock and pairing softer delicate lines with sudden, edgy high notes that pump the tracks up to their chorus.
Perhaps the most prominent aspect of this album is that the band is equally comfortable with doing softer, more introspective songs. “Holy” is a mysterious synthesizer oriented number which features crisp lyrics delivered in Gunn’s sharp, edgy tone. While Gunn’s stellar voice and incredible music have allowed for this album fun to listen, the immersive layers of guitar and synthesizer have created incredible soundscapes for these songs. This album is unique, and responsible for putting PVRIS on the map.
All we know about ‘All We Know of Heaven, All We Need from Hell’
The band’s second album, expected to be released sometime this fall, maintains the signature sound created on the previous LP. However, the lyrics here are much darker and bolder. Over the years, PVRIS has become vocal about LGBTQA rights and so the songs on this album make subtle but significant attempts at resisting the status quo. For example, the videos of the album’s released tracks so far purposefully attempt at not sexualizing the women within them, not presenting male-female only romantic narratives, and not presenting Gunn as a possible romantic counterpart to either of her male band mates.
The album’s released tracks and album art are all shot in black and white. It is probable that the rest of its videos adhere to these two colors (or lack of colors) as well. This conceptual point gives the album an eerie feel, in keeping with its dark, gothic subject matter.
