The second single to follow their first song was Helena Beat which was again penned by the lead man of the band Foster the People Mark Fosterwho in many interviews has revealed that he drew on his personal life experiences to write this song. And like his previous single though there are dark and sad elements in the lyrics but the tune of the song is very upbeat, catchy and dance influenced. The song talks about life being harsh and unfair for a lot of people and yet it is so very short that before you know it all your strife and troubles are a thing of the past. Interestingly the video for the song depicted images of war and turbulence across the world and the front man in his van on a long road passing many barren places in his journey. The song gained in popularity after it was made the Single of the Week at the iTunes store and made available for free download. It was also the Song of the Week on BBC Radio One in August this year and received continuous airtime.
The first studio album by Foster the People is called Torches and was released in May this year. It was very well received by critics and proved to be a major commercial success for the group. The album sold more than thirty thousand copies in only its first week, which is a significant figure for a debut album. A lot of people have found their music to be very different from what a lot of musicians are doing these days and that according to many has been the reason behind the group?s success.
At the upcoming concert featuring Foster the People, the fans would get to hear such brilliant songs from their new album as Helena Beat, Warrant, Pumped Up Kicks, Call It What You Want, Waste, Houdini, Life On the Nickel, I Would Do Anything for You, Miss You and Don't Stop (Color On the Walls).
