Eddie Vedder who is an American based songwriter, singer and musician was born on 23rd December 1964. At present he is working as a lead vocalist for an alternative rock band called Pearl Jam. His passion for music can be traced back from the very early days of his life as his father was a lounge musician as well. In the year 1984 Vedder came back to California and started recording demo tapes and occasionally worked with bands like The Butts, Surf and Destroy.

In the year 1988 he started becoming famous and became a part of the funk rock band called Bad Radio. At first the band’s music was greatly influenced by Duran Duran but when Vedder was included in the band the music was changed to alternative rock, a style that was appreciated. In 1990 he received a demo tape from his friend Jack Irons and wrote three songs for it. The songs were autobiographical in nature as the lyrics told his story. These songs Footsteps, Alive and Once became a part of his band Pearl Jam. Later on he sang a duet Hunger Strike with Chris Cornell.

In the year 1990 Pearl Jam came into existence with the help of Gossard, McCready and Ament. Later on Dave Krusen who was a drummer and Eddie Vedder became a part of the band. In the year 1991 they signed a contract with Epic Records and in the same year they recorded an album entitled Ten that became extremely successful and topped the charts and became one of the best selling albums of the 1990s. His songs received numerous prestigious awards including the Grammy Award for being the Best Rock Song and also earned a nomination giving the best hard rock performance in the year 1993. The list of awards did not end here as in the same year the received four consecutive awards for the music video Jeremy at the MTV Video Music Awards. Ten won 207th position on the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Pearl Jam released his second album in the year 1993 titled Vs which became an instant hit and remained at number one position on the Billboard 200 for five consecutive weeks. Like the previous album it again won a Grammy nomination for being the Best Rock Album of the Year 1995. In 1994 they released their third album entitled Vitalogy which yet again carried forward the legacy of the bands albums winning platinum. In the year 1996 it won Grammy nominations for being the Best Rock Album and also for Album of the Year.

Eddie Vedder has given music for the completion of many films and sound tracks including I Am Sam, Body of War, Dead Man Walking, Reign Over Me and A Brokedown Melody. In the year 2007 he wrote songs for a documentary film entitled Body of War which was produced by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro. He recorded a soundtrack for the film Eat Pray Love in the year 2010.
