Early Life & Career with Outkast

Big Boi was born in Savannah, but raised in both Savannah and Atlanta. It was in high school that he decided to pursue music professionally. Big Boi Solo

In 2007, Outkast duo went on hiatus and both artists have since pursued solo careers. Big Boi has released 3 studio albums, 22 singles, and 25 music videos.

Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was the title of Big Boi’s debut album. It was released in 2010 and debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200. It sold more than 60,000 copies in its first week alone. The album was a Southern hip hop masterpiece that became popular for its bounce and bass-heavy sound assorted musical elements and layered production. The album’s lyrical focus was on sex, club themes and social commentary.

Writing for Newsweek, Seth Colter stated Big Boi makes the contemporary trappings of hip-hop sound funkier than just about anyone.

In 2012, Big Boi released his second album. Titled Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, the album featured guest appearances from Ludacris, Killer Mike and Kid Cudi. The album debuted at No.34 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 30,000 copies in its first week of release alone. It also impressed the music critics.

Commenting on Big Boi’s transformation from Outkast to a solo star, Jon Pareles of New York Times wrote even in Outkast, Big Boi was never merely a macho cartoon; now, he's revealing he's a grown-up.

Big Boi’s Latest Album

Boomiverse is Big Boi’s latest album. Released in 2017, it debuted at No.28 on the Billboard 200 and No.8 on the Top Rap Albums chart. Like its predecessor, this album too featured some famous hip hop artists such as Jeezy, Adam Levine and Gucci Mane. Boomiverse was also a commercially successful project as well as an album which garnered positive reviews from critics. Allmusic gave it 3.5 stars.
