Rise of a country star

An American singer and songwriter from Amarillo, Aaron Watson lives and breathes country music. He grew up listening to the tunes of legendary artists like, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and George Jones. Aaron got his early education from Randall High School and later, got enrolled in Abilene Christian University where his interest in country music developed. He started penning down songs and learned to play the guitar. Soon, he gave an audition to the executives of a Nashville record label who refused to sign him. This ignited a fire in him to pursue a career in the music business as an independent artist. Watson’s first self-titled record was released in 1999. He then started to perform shows around Texas to establish a fan following.  

His second studio album titled, ‘A Texas Café’ arrived in the markets in 2001 which was followed by the release of his third record, ‘Shutupanddance’ which came out a year later in 2002. The album brought him success. It gave singles like, I Don’t Want You To Go (But I Need You To Leave) and Off the Record both of which received radio airplay. A couple of years later, ‘The Honky Tonk Kid’ hit the music stores which featured thirteen songs on the track list. The album was produced by Ray Benson and featured collaborations by names like, Willie Nelson, Dale Watson and Asleep at the Wheel.

Live at the Texas Hall of Fame

Aaron Watson introduced his band, Orphans of the Brazos to the world and together they performed shows throughout the globe. They soon decided to record one of their performances on tape and released, ‘Live at the Texas Hall of Fame’ in 2005. The album featured live version of hits like, If You’re Not in Love, She Never Will and The Notel Motel among others. A year later, Aaron returned to the spotlight with his new album, ‘San Angelo’ which became his first studio effort to chart on the Top Country Albums.

The Texan soon started to experiment with his sound and moved towards a contemporary country approach which resulted in his songs getting more airplay. His album, ‘Angels & Outlaws’ hit the shelves in 2008. It entered the Top Country Albums at the twenty eighth spot and was supported by three singles, Hearts Are Breaking Across Texas, Love Makin’ Song and Rollercoaster Ride. In 2010, Aaron Watson released his album, ‘The Road and The Rodeo’ which propelled him further into the limelight. The record charted on the Billboard 200.

The Underdog

Aaron Watson finally did what many thought could not be done. He became the first independent male artist whose debut record, ‘The Underdog,’ debuted at the first spot on the Top Country Albums chart. It has sold in excess of seventy five thousand copies in the United States.

Watson is now ready to entertain the fans of country music once again and will be releasing his latest album, ‘Vaquero’ in 2017. The lead single, Outta Style was recently released and it reached the fifty sixth spot on the Country Airplay chart. The famed country singer is now taking the show on the road to promote ‘Vaquero’ and will perform his shows in cities like, Salt Lake City, Columbus and Rosemont among others.
