About Alton Brown Live

Alton has special interest in cinematography. He achieved his degree in drama from The University of Georgia and he kept this career side by side with his cooking career. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts when he was younger. One of his notable works in the field of cinematography was his work with “The One I Love” by R.E.M. He was once a motorcyclist as well, but quit in 2012. Brown began his cooking career discontent with the American cooking shows. He set out to produce his own show. He enrolled himself in the New England Culinary Institute to teach himself the science of food. He stated that he was never good at science at school but he had to focus. He graduated from the school in 1997. He has a strong disliking for single-purpose kitchen equipment; he transforms utensils into multi-purpose tools
Good Eats ran for 14 years, until he announced its final season 2011. The last episode aired on February 10, 2012. The show actually did not pilot on The Food Network but the Network acquired it from the PBS member TV station WTTW. His creativity was the main feature of the show as he transformed kitchen equipment, commenting that these utensils were just like hardware store items, only given the tag as cooking devices. The show was awarded the Peabody award in 2006.
Brown was a part of the rejuvenated Iron Chef America: Battle of the Masters, after the Iron Chef featuring William Shatner. It was not much of a success. His role was similar to Dr. Yukio Hattori as expert.  He was also the host of The Next Iron Chef which ran for four seasons. His notable appearances include an episode of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob Square pants in 2008. He also guest starred in an episode of Myth Busters where they tested cooking popcorn in a pressure with the help of a car engine and using the engine to cook. A third myth was posted online where lasagna was tested to see if it cooked in a dishwasher.
Brown did infomercials for General Electric Products such as washers, dryers. One may mistake the infomercials for his show because they were produced in the same manner as the show, with special camera angles, scientific explanations and his usual way of talking. Brown was a part of developing GE oven. Interestingly enough, science became his strong point and GE actually called on him to assist their engineers to learn more about food production under the effect of heat.  He also endorsed Dannon yogurt and Shun Knives. Brown’s humor is a big part of his personality. He gained popularity on Twitter when he responded to tweets with Analog tweets. He would respond only with these analog tweets which he had written down and pasted on his monitor.
Alton Brown decided to lose weight in 2009 and went up to lose fifty pounds in nine months. He said that he was not under a diet and he avoided anything with the label “diet food’ on it. He instead had four simple lists, which he explained in an episode of Good Eats.  He has assigned the number of days to eat the food included in each list. From the first list, which included greens, fiber, whole grain, vegetables etc, he could eat these daily. His second list included brain food such as oily fish, yogurt, some greens such as broccoli and sweet potato. He would eat these three times a week. His third list included protein, starch such as pasta and alcohol, which he would eat strictly once a week. His final list included the food items such as sodas. Alton Brown Tickets are still available as he has planned several events in October.
