Steve John came up with the idea of Blippi when he saw his two-year-old nephew watching low-quality videos on YouTube. He then started to think of different ideas in order to develop his character and soon posted his first Blippi video in January of 2014. He filmed and edited most of his initial videos himself. Inspired by children's entertainers and educators like Mr. Rogers, John decided to make Blippi educational with a childlike, curious and energetic persona in order to connect with the younger audience. This is why he always dresses up in a blue shirt, blue and orange beanie cap, a bow tie and orange suspenders in all of his videos.
His idea worked out brilliantly as the videos eventually got him over a billion views on YouTube. He currently has over five million subscribers on that video sharing platform and was even ranked second on the list of the 'Top 30 Kids Learning YouTube Channels.'

Due to the immense success of Blippi, Stevin John has announced the dates for Blippi Live!, a touring show that will feature the famous character who will entertain children with his performance.
