About Comerica Park

This open air ballpark is the center of entertainment and sports activity in Detroit, Michigan. The park opened up as the latest, state-of-the-art replacement to the historic Tiger Stadium. Tiger Stadium was constructed somewhere in the early twentieth century as the homefield for Detroit Tigers. This was the time when National Football League stars Detroit Lions were playing here too. They have now moved next-door to Ford Field. The Tiger Stadium was a National Register for Historical Places entrant. It was known as ‘the Corner’ for its physical location. Various preservation efforts made the stadium to sustain for quite a while, but in 2009, it had to be demolished and Comerica Park came into picture.

This park was initially nicknamed as CoPa, which later on became the name of the stadium known as Comerica Park. This ballpark is perpetrated at the old Detroit College of Law and its scoreboard is considered to be one of the largest in Major League Baseball. It is a pitcher’s friendly stadium in contrast to Tiger Stadium. The first ever game was played here by the Tigers against Seattle Mariners. The first playoff game was against the Yankees in 2006. Soon after the Yankees game, the Park hosted its first World Series Game. Comerica Park has since then being used as one of the World-class parks for baseball games. To commemorate all the memorable performances by Tigers, there is a Monumental Park housed in here. The park honors great players like Ty Cobb, Hal Newhouser, Al Kaline, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg and Willie Horton. Their Statues stand proud in the monumental park to remind everyone of their fighting spirit. This idea was reiterated from the New York Yankees Stadium in New York.

This venue can accommodate around forty five thousand spectators at a game or a concert. It is a grass surfaced park equipped with latest facilities. It is part of Detroit’s downtown renovation plan and has now become the prime location for fun and entertainment.  The venue has rocked many evenings with amazing concerts by Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, The Rolling Stones, Alice in Chains, Jay-Z, Kiss and Aerosmith. The venue has planned out an amazing season ahead. There is going to be a lot of action and excitement on the ground, with real honor at stake. The place is going to be echoing with good music and kicking sports this season. If you don’t want to miss out on all that, then you can order your Comerica Park Tickets now!
