Latin rhythms will soon be echoing on Broadway as the power couple, Gloria Estefan and Emilio, bring their inspiring story to the stage. Winner of seven Grammy Awards, Gloria has cemented her name in the industry as one of the biggest-selling singers of all time. Emilio, a mastermind producer, was behind the success of numerous musicians. “On Your Feet” will tell their story, a true rags-to-riches tale of how they rose to popularity. Tony Award-winning director Jerry Mitchell once again takes the reins in his hands, after enjoying acclaim for his still-running hit musical, “Kinky Boots”. A jukebox musical, “On Your Feet” will chart the Estefans' career and relationship, and the theaters will come alive with their genre-defining greatest hits.

“On Your Feet” will take the audience on an interesting journey and will present a classic, true story of love, dedication, and success. Set to the chart-topping hits by the couple, the musical will capture their unwavering devotion to one another and their quest to live the American dream. The Estefans' talent, their music, and heritage that earned them global superstardom will be presented on the live stage. “On Your Feet” will have Sergio Trujillo as its choreographer, the Drama Desk Award nominee whose credentials include hits like “Jersey Boys” and “Memphis”. Alexander Dinelaris, an Academy Award nominee, has written the book for the musical.

In 2014, when the official statement was made about the musical, a further hype was created when Gloria Estefan announced a global search for the actresses who would play her. An international casting effort was launched as two leading ladies were required to play a teenage Gloria and the diva in her twenties. Initial casting calls were held in Miami, as Gloria stated that it was a very important step in finding the right performers for this project. “Our own journey together started in Miami, a city that has been such an inspiration to us both, and it only felt right that the city be a cornerstone of our search for the next generation of bright talent.”

Since the musical will soon begin rehearsals followed by a grand opening, roles have already been cast. However, the production is tight-lipped about who will be playing the superstars Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan.

A phenomenal producer, he has been instrumental in developing and directing the careers of not only his wife, but also other Latin musicians such as Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, and Jon Secada, among others. Emilio has been lauded for his creativity, as he has successfully pushed the envelope by blending Latin, world rhythms, and pop, creating an ingenious style.
