The very amazing classic ballet with music by the master composer Tchaikovsky was staged in New York. This fine ballet has been regularly staged for the last many decades and till date it has been watched by millions of fans worldwide. This three act ballet was a memorable show that sold Sleeping Beauty ballet NYC 2013 tickets like hot cakes.

Sleeping Beauty Ballet as the name implies is based on the popular fairytale of the same name that was written and published in 1697 by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé. Perrault is a world renowned author who has also created other famous fairytale characters like Tom Thumb, Cinderella, The Little Red Riding Hood and Puss In Boots.  The main idea was of Perrault was to write it as an original literary tale. For almost two centuries since the story was published for the first time, no one tried to adapt it for a ballet. It was in 1888 that Ivan Vsevolozhsky who was the director of Imperial Theater in St. Petersburg decided to adapt it for a ballet. For the music he commissioned acclaimed music composer Pyotr Llyich Tchaikovsky who at that time was relatively new to this field. The only experience that Tchaikovsky had was the composing of Swan Lake that proved to be a moderate success. The original choreography for Sleeping Beauty ballet was done by the very gifted ballet master Marius Petipa who also did choreography for classic hits like The Talisman, The Little Humpbacked Horse, The Seasons and The Awakening of Flora. The conductor for the initial show was Riccardo Drigo.

Sleeping Beauty was adapted by Vsevolozhsky with a slight variation as he wanted to add a little more color to the ballet. For this he incorporated other fairytale characters such as Puss in Boots, The White Cats and Ricky of the Tuft. The main focus of the ballet was on the two fairies the evil carabosse fairy and the good lilac fairy. Mainly all the plot was written depicting a war between the good and evil in which eventually the good wins. The evil fairy is angry as she has not been invited by the King on the big party that he has given on the birth of her only daughter. She puts a curse that at the age of 16 the princess will die after pricking her finger from a spindle, immediately the good lilac fairy intervenes by partially undoing the curse, she alters it and instead of dying the princess will go into a peaceful 100 year sleep only to be woken by the kiss of a handsome prince. The world premiere of the ballet took place at the Imperial Mariinsky Theater in 1890. The Moscow premiere took place in 1899 at the Moscow Bolshoi Theater, ballet master for this performance was Aleksandr Gorsky. Since then Sleeping Beauty ballet has been reprised and staged at a number of places across the globe. It has been performed in cities like Milan, London, Philadelphia and Basel at venues like Alhambra Theater, Royal Festival Hall, Basel Theater and Royal Opera House. The story is set in the baroque era in Europe. Some of the main characters in this ballet are King Florestan, Queen, Aurora, Prince Desire and Princess Florine.

Sleeping Beauty Ballet NYC was a melodious ride through the classic fairytale of Charles Perrault. The show was a big hit as the Sleeping Beauty ballet NYC 2013 tickets were bought by numerous fans .
